A word about Jeff's departure and our desire to comment on current events
I've mentioned several times before that we have a far more diverse group of folks who read this forum than the ones who comment. We're a forum that talks about cars, car-related subjects, and posts that vary from time to time but should be kept light or informative. We're an escape from the anger, malice, and frustrations that are out there and actually provide a service to a lot of guys that aren't as mobile as everyone else.
So, I'm going to ask that you refrain from making comments about the government, the president, your governor, state, nation, or any other politician or legislation you hear about. There are other forums you can use to get into those dialogues. This one is light and easy and not appropriate for those types of exchanges. Let's keep the anger and name-calling out of our posts as well.
I have, in the past, notified those who post inappropriately and explained why. Starting today, I'm just going to delete those posts that are clearly divisive or abusive, like Steve's post about snowflakes. If I have to do it too frequently, I'll suspend posting privileges, as I have done in the past, for a period of time.
I'm not trying to be a hardliner on this. I'm just trying to keep the Lounge a safe place for all of us to spend some time. We should all hang our heads, me included for letting it happen, over losing someone like Jeff over all the silliness out there. We're an escape, an oasis of nostalgia and peace, not a soapbox or a current event forum. I have very strong opinions about what's happening in our world and write extensively in other venues. I keep my opinions to myself when I'm here with you folks because I made the commitment to keep this place clean, family-friendly, and free of divisive issues.
Carry on, gents. But do it with consideration of others.

Well said John, and I'll think about what I post in future also...
I have made silly comments in jest in the past but have always tried to be light-hearted and avoid anything to do with politics or religion - as you say these are for other places that folk can choose to frequent or avoid as they wish. It's for this reason that I never write anything contentious on Facebook, where I'm a reluctant user anyway, using it as a format to keep in touch with family and friends.
In the meantime I'd like to thank you for the truly excellent job you do as Moderator of both this and F43, and hope that you'll continue to maintain your great presence to the benefit of us all.
Thank-you John for your dedication to the forums and the lounge
Very nicely said John. Thank you!

Thank you John
First off, I never get offended when someone disagrees with my thoughts and at the same time I feel bad when my words do offend someone, so most of the time, I just smile and shut up.
I read the D4C posts every day and comment every now and then.
I have found that the currents times are like the worst roller coaster ride in a thunderstorm and as I ride through it I look for that one tiny place of calm that I can go to.
And that place is right here.
Keep the great photos rolling in.
Very well said John. Thank you for all your work here.
I have been here since 1996 but I found it very difficult not to respond to the person who mocked the Bible and the Christian faith. John Kuvakas knows whom and what I'm talking about because he deleted my post (2 Tim 3). I think it's best, from now on, I find other ways to occupy my time, in my old age.
Thanks!
+1 My thoughts exactly. I will try to be more mindful moving forward.
Agreed....This website is about model cars and that is the focus ... NO political agendas..
Thank you, John. I join my brethren of the Lounge in thank you for your leadership and examples.
Ok John
Thanks John

Learned my lesson years ago in the Lounge No politicos nor religion uttered by me any more.
Thanks John for the reminder of what this forum is for.
