Are there any of our members into making resin parts? I need a couple of rear ends for a truck
Tom.......
Here's something YOU can try (if you what). Sorry but I DO NOT CAST RESIN parts...however:
Years back I needed to replicate some parts. Craft stores sell an inexpensive clay that can be shaped then baked in an over to harden it.
I made a 2-piece mold using cheap wood forms (Legos work too!) and cheap plaster. Then I simply filled it with clay (thus duplicating my part)...then CAREFULLY removed the clay and baked it.
Done! (total cost..about $8.00)
-just my 2 cents
Hi Chris... It seems kind of fragile to me? And how would I be able to mount it to the truck in question? Dissimilar parts etc?
Tom, you may know that I've...
..scratch built many 1/18 projects. From gassers to full semis. I've outlined many tutorials on this forum, even had one appear in a magazine... my point: I've used CA glue (Krazy glue) on ALL of them. I buy it at the dollar store.
Krazy glue will bond ANYTHING to ANYTHING. Occasionally I'll reinforce contact points with VERY tiny screws but this is rare.
Should you "bake a few" parts. I have NO DOUBT that Krazy glue will hold it all together.
