Very informative. I can see why the designs didn't go well when they came out, but now-they are just so cool.

Gr8 vid.  I had not seen many of those design studio pics.  Very cool. Our family had a used plucked chicken in the form of a red 1961 Plymouth Fury coupe, like this:

Ply61

It even had the squarish, glittery steering wheel. I was embarrassed to be seen in it. Now it's  a bona fide classic which I'd be proud to be seen in!

I certainly thought most of the early 60s Chryco cars were very strange and mostly unattractive; in particular the Plymouth and Dodge.  Some of the mockups I have seen that were larger may have been much more commercially successful designs, but as I understand it they were set aside  and replaced by the shorter designs in the 11th hour.  Like others have commented, these oddball designs like the 61 and 62 Dodge and Plymouth now have come to be more appreciated for their styling uniqueness and quirkiness.  I was surprised several years ago to find myself beginning to warm up to these odd looking cars and now I actually like them; especially in the 2drht., convertible and station wagon versions.

Took me years before I could stand the '57 - '60 Chrysler finned monsters but by my 60th birthday I actually liked them, compared to what GM & Ford offered [liked the Ford it self but Mertcury & Lincoln left me cold]. '61 - '63 I have always disliked [hated] the styling and still do on the Dodge & Plymouth & imperial but the Chrysler itself was quite nice. '65 to '70 love the Dodge.

Personally, I really liked the Valiant. Can't say too much positive about the rest of them, with the possible exception of the 1962 Chrysler, which was my wedding car in black with red interior..

I'd take that Valiant station wagon over a Falcon wagon any and every day !

I've always liked them. But then again, I'm my most favorite person that I know !

I have really liked the 62 Chrysler from the time of its intro.  I like the tail end treatment much more than the 61; which I must say I like as well.  I was disappointed when the totally redesigned 63 Chrysler came out.
