As a side note to my football story above, whenever my wife and I do have a game on TV, she always points out to me where the line of scrimmage is. For TV they "paint" the lines on the field...however, as she points out, they are not really "painted" on the field, but done so with cameras for us viewers at home.

Yes the highlighted lines and arrows, etc. used by NFL commentators in replays are the best part of the game for me.
Exactly. LOL, in hindsight, I'm sure I shortened poor Mr. Saszma's school coaching career. Someday I'll share my school wrestling story that also involved him. It's a hoot.

I'm with you George. I never could see those lines either. I stuck to what you call soccer where all the lines were obvious.

I thought soccer and football were the same thing???

For me, but not most Americans. They use that weird oval ball for their football.
I know, Canadians do too, but we changed the rules somewhat for our oval ball game.

LOL. Yes we Canadians made the game 3 downs rather than 4 and turned it into a much less interesting spectator sport.
I've always been bothered that Football is a one hour game that takes over three hours to play. One of the reasons I've always liked baseball is that it is a three hour game (unless extra innings are needed), that is played in 3 hours.

@georgeschire George; I love both sports but much prefer to watch NFL football. I should add that I prefer watching baseball live though because of the insane noise level in the football audience. Maybe I'm just getting old.
Having attended games in all 30 major league baseball parks and another dozen or more of previous baseball stadiums, I guess you can conclude that I choose baseball over football. For sure, I understand baseball more.

Hmm, there's times when there are extra innings...2-3 AM games ?
For sure....that's when the peanut shells get really deep underfoot.....oh, and the beer cans too!
