IS IT AGE? IS IT NORMAL? . I get off the couch, go to the kitchen, and then when I get there, I stop. Hmmm..."what did come up here for?". After a second or two of thinking I'm losing my mind, I go, "oh yea to grab a pen". We've all done this. But then there are times when I do or don't do things that force me to question my sanity. License tabs were due for Lorraine's car. I decide it would be a good afternoon to get them, as the weather is nice and I'll be able to get them on. I come home, clean the license plates and stick those baby's on. After a little more putzing around in the garage, it's 3:30 and I decide I'm going to take a little nap. I doze off and at 4:10 I wake up and immediately say out loud, "Oh my God, I put Lorraine's tabs on MY CAR!". Then I say, "Oh for the love of Pete, I didn't, did I?". I go to the garage and sure enough, I DID! I grab my phone and call the DMV, and when the ladies voice answers, I immediately prepare her saying, "Okay, I'm going to be your dumb customer of the day. I bought license tabs today for my wife's car, but I put them on MY CAR by mistake. What do I need to do?". She struggles to hide a slight chuckle and says, "Well if it makes you feel any better, people do this all the time". I tell her, "Well that doesn't make me feel any better, but thank you". She then tells me that, "I can come back to the DMV and buy another set of tabs for Lorraine's car, and the ones I purchased earlier and put on my car can be pro-rated and they can record it as such. So I race over to the DMV, as they close at 5:00pm. I get the second set of tabs, and put them on her car. I kept asking myself if this was an honest mistake or am I losing my mind? A month or so later, I had to again question my sanity. I'm always good about making sure that I pay our property taxes, not only on time, but usually 4 to 6 weeks early. Dong so, simply to assure that I don't have to worry about them then. They are due October 15th. We had a crazy busy and at times stressful September and early October. I wake up the morning of October 16th, and honest to God, I sit up in bed and say, "Did I mail the taxes?". I'm not kidding, that was my first thought upon waking up. I run downstairs, grab the property tax statement and find the check made out, but not sent. I'd written it out in September to send, and for whatever reason, didn't mail it. I was in a severe moment of wanting to bend over and swift kick me in the behind panic. I get dressed, drive to the post office and drop the envelope with check enclosed in the box. For the remainder of that day and the next week I was seriously wondering how I messed this up, when I always mail them early. On the 6th day after mailing the taxes, I received a letter from the county with a $32 late charge owed. I immediately was mad! I'm like, "Come on $32 for being late by a couple of days?". They're vultures, I'm thinking. For a brief moment I thought about calling and trying to plead my case, but quickly realized that I'm aware that if they are not paid by the 15th, there is a penalty, and it was my own, for whatever reason I forgot to send it, my fault. I begrudgingly made out the $32 check and got it to the post office. It was another beat myself up day. The license tabs debacle and then my absent-mindedness on missing the taxes deadline, I obviously am either getting old or worse losing my mind. As I've retold the story many times, it's allowed for some good laughs at my expense, but alas more important, another story in my life's adventure's. All said and done, my final conclusion is, I'M NORMAL.

Hmm,

Ponder this:

At times I've forgotten what store and time at the mall we'll meet up at.

But I've NEVER forgotten where my beloved car is parked.

LOL, I actually lost my car one time after coming out of a baseball game. I'm wandering all over the parking lot, thinking I remembered where it was, only to be wrong the first 3 rows I went to. Then I hit my forehead in the middle and called myself a moron. I couldn't find my car, because that night I'd driven my dad's car. Hello!!!
