THINGS TO DO LIST!
Back in my working days, I'd start every new week off with a "Things to do List". Over the past week it's come to my attention that I've got a few things that I should put some attention to, primarily because with the long winter (hopefully) now behind us, many home projects have been done and a list of things related to those projects, need our attention.
So this morning, up at my normal time of 5:30, while enjoying my coffee and toast, I grabbed a pad of paper and wrote down a "Things to do List". WOW! I had 7 entries! My immediate thought was, I'd better finish my coffee and get started.
But wait, let me back up the train for a second...two weeks ago, our new roof was put on. I'll point out that it was the second roof, because last November the one that was put on, was the wrong color. Ooops! The roofing companies error. Now with the correct roof and color on, we were waiting for our new siding to be completed too. It was completed this past Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Looks awesome for what my opinion is worth.
I realized after the roof and siding were done, that it took longer getting those projects done, than giving birth to a child. Our hail damage occurred last May 19, 2022, so it is a week short of a year. Had it been a baby, we'd have a three month old right now.
Now here is today's "Things to do List" comes in. With siding and roof now on, I needed to get a hold of Gutter Helmut to attach our new rain gutter down spouts and covers. That's what got me thinking of making a list. So here we go:
1) Call Gutter Helmut
2) Call construction company to remove the dumpster in my driveway
3) Call Midwest Fence to check on replacement fence on one side of house
4) Go to Target
5) Go to Menards (both to return an item and purchase some yard items
6) Go to post office
7) Return a call from a writer friend I'm assisting for a documentary project
As is the case with most lists, new things pop up. While at Menards, turns out I may have saved an elderly woman's life. While she was attempting to lift a bag of dirt in to her shopping cart, the card start to tip over on her, and it was going to knock her to the floor. I grabbed the cart, while holding my own million pound bag of dirt, and got her cart stabilized. The problem was not her, but rather her cart, as it was missing a front wheel. I got her a new cart, reloaded her items and the million pound bag of dirt in to it, and with a sincere thank you of gratitude, she was on her way.
While at Target we got all the items we went there for, including the usual couple of things we didn't. That's the way it is with Target. Now no adventure is ever truly an adventure if there isn't a funny story, so here it is. Along with the two chairs in the back of my car we also bought two 24 packs of Dasani water. Oh and a loaf of bread was included. It is said that we should always strive to learn something new every day, but it's also said that some things should just be common sense. Well the latter, wasn't the case.
Placing the chairs, the water and the bread in the back of my SUV, the water shifted while driving the short distance home, landed on the bread, and now we have a loaf of pancakes! Yes we laughed, because that was the common sense thing we should have anticipated.
It's a good day! My "Things to do List" is completed, our new chairs look awesome on the porch and we're having pancakes for lunch.

THANKS for the compliment. As for a "ride-em lawnmower", NO I do NOT have one.

Great story and adventure George. I’ve had the flat bread issue too.
I really like your house renovation. Sorry that it took so long.
