I agree; there's no cruller and embarrassing way to go than choking to death on health food.  DOH!

Nothing worse than an agressive vegetable. I prefer pastries, they are far more beignet.

The benign pastry is much softer on the body John, but you'll have to keep up that Kung-Fu fighting to compensate.

Personally I find that Kung Food Fighting in order to get ahead in the bakery customer lineup on half price Friday addresses both dietary and exercise requirements.

Seems nutty by comparison to me JK, but if that is what Sichuan for exercise then go for it!

@jack-dodds, they are a New Orleans staple. If you ever have the opportunity to try a freshly made one, it can be life-changing, particularly when accompanied by a cup of chickory coffee. Sit in the Cafe DuMonde, watch folks stroll by, see your beignet being made, and tip your straw hat to the ladies.

Yes! We were so impressed that we bought a dozen on our way out of town. We were headed to Orlando, about a ten-hour drive. They were stale when we got there!
