Discussion for the day - Pro Touring and Restomod.
DEFINE PRO TOURING and RESTOMOD
I have seen these two labels tagged to many classic car rebuilds. They seem to be thought of as the same thing on one hand and on the other hand they are completely different.
Go ahead...Google it. You will not find a definite definition of either one that many agree on.
So what are your thoughts as to the definition of both?

Excellent question! Here's my thoughts...
Frankly, I'm a little surprised that there were would be any differing opinions. I've always that the lines of distinction of the two types of cars were clearly drawn. Apparently, (and as usual) I'm wrong.
PRO TOURING
A heavily race modified car that is set up for drag racing.
RESTOMOD
A classic Pony or Muscle car that has been updated with modern present day suspension, brake, and drivetrain components. It maintains the overal cosmetic look of a classic '60s or '70s Pony or Muscle car, but modernized for safety, comfort, and reliability.

Pretty much agree on Restomod, Marlowe, but you seem to have described....
Pro Street, rather than Pro Touring. To me, Pro Touring indicates effective modifications to body, frame, suspension, brakes and power train in the interests of excellent handling in other-than-straight-line conditions. Pro Touring cars typically very much like road racing and other types of racing that feature several turns and non-standard conditions.

We seem to agree on restomod is a street car built to look like a stock car but with modern mechanicals and electronics; the pro touring suggest to me a modifyed vehicle used PROfessionally in Touring type races or other competition events.

Larry, didn't intend to leave you out of the discussion.....
Simply stated, my opinion only:
Restomod: an early vehicle with later model engine, suspension, brakes, etc. that looks stock or mildly modified but drives like and has the reliability of a newer car.
Pro Touring: Much more complex but generally includes modification to all parts of the vehicle to make it perform at very high levels (racing and winning) in a variety of race venues. These modifications, when well integrated, produce a vehicle that goes, stops, turns and handles far better than most, if not all, factory vehicles but also can be driven and enjoyed in a non-racing environment.
