As with most of the late '40's and mid-late 50 GM cars, many of them were nicely rounded with a pleasing roofline. However, like the many of the 40's GM offerings, most had a large Proboscis (thanks Tony P.). I like the general shape of this car and did some edits just to see what they looked like.
As found:
Lowered with a lower cowl, deeper windshield, pancaked hood (shaved), and a tailpipe change:
Tucked in bumpers, parking lamp canisters, lowered trunk lid profile, altered side trim and mild dechroming:
With a very light top chop:
And a mild section just below the beltline:
As a concession to Buick lovers who can't live without the portholes:
With a tire/wheel cover change:
Frenched head and tail lights, shaved side trim and door handles:
The 'As found' photo includes a tailpipe change in that I can't abide exhaust deflectors!! The balance of the edits deal with the too-high hood and trunk and with simplifying the car's presentation via a series of edits. Again, just wish to see what they look like with changes.
Comments are welcome.
Enjoy!
Not really a fan of any of the mods, but if I had to pick it would be picture 6 from top down.
I like the second to the last photo. It needs the chrome strip to break up the body.
I. and Jimmy Durante, would approve, believe it or not - pics #2 and #7. In #2, the schnoze is gone while retaining the essential look of the car. In #7, there's enough to recognize the original beginnings while the wheels and tires and your mods, bring it into the next era seamlessly!
