Lohner-Porsche 1900 Austria with story, very interesting.

Jacob Lohner & Company were carriage builders and makers of electric equipment. They were persuaded by the young Ferdinand Porsche to combine the two activities. The electric cars were made as a brougham and Victoria. The armature of each motor was fastened to a wheel hub, and the stationary field was fastened to the axle; therefore the rate of wheel rotation was the same as the motor speed. Each motor was of nominal 2?hp but could be boosted to 7hp. Without the heavy batteries the car weighed 15cwt. The range imposed by the battery life between charges was 20 miles, which meant that they were restricted to pottering about in towns. However the design must have been impressive because by 1902 35 manufacturers had taken out a licence to make them.

And the big boys shelved electric cars so they could milk all the $$$ away from Johnny Public
Then when that well ran dry ...
They came up with a great idea!!!
RIGHT!!
That's because after 2 generations... nobody remembered the first electric cars

How about the worlds first hybrid tank. Porsches Tiger 1 prototype with electric drive.
