Very interesting indeed! Many of the states noted have a lot more "personal space" to offer people....could that be the main reason? I know that was the main reason I moved to central Alberta when I retired; I was sick to death of the continually growing city dysfunction, with no end in sight. I moved to a lovely town of 16,000 on a huge lake and found what I was looking for; friendly and respectful people, a peaceful but not boring pace of life, major centre close if required but not too close.....just what I was missing. Like stepping back 40 years.

In my opinion there are 5 states that other than the winters are superior to live in. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Basically the type of country, the friendly people, and the state's financial state that I like. NO monster cities with urban sprawl and the crime & pollution that goes with them.
The map is of the "top states to live in"...such as in "the states at the top"...top...upper...get it? If I gothca, don't feel bad, it got me too.Â
