Not much chrome on today's cars!
@perrone1.I agree with you Tony. I have been to many classic car shows where a large percentage of the field are Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers and pickup trucks from the 2000's that I can look at any time on the street or car dealership. These vehicles take up spots on the field and result in many classics being turned away because the field is full. What a shame. I attend these shows to see classics not new vehicles. There are many opinions out there as to whether classic car events should allow modern tribute cars. I for one am against them. Perhaps have separate shows for them should be considered. What do you think?
Completely agree Ken! I don't want to see the new car buyers show off their cars with 170 miles on it - I want to see the classics, the cars I saw growing up that are amazingly still in operation and sporting original equipment from 1930's or '40's. I wanna see chrome - like these babies:@perrone1.I agree with you Tony. Modern vs. classic has been an ongoing debate for years. "Classic" arguments sound valid until someone shows up in a new Lamborghini, Ferrari, or ?.
I remember being at show where there was a C8 Vette, 6 months ahead of being in dealerships. Among hundreds of high-end classic iconic & rare cars that C8 stole the show. The crowd surrounded the car - you couldn't even see the car. 🙄
Me too Chris. That happened years ago at a Franklin Mint Annual Car Show & D4C meeting. The C5 Z06 debuted and took a lot of attention away from the other cars temporarily. But it wasn't as Ken pointed out where an abundance of new cars took spaces away from the classic vehicles. Those shows were so much fun - I miss them.Modern vs. classic has been an ongoing debate for years. "Classic" arguments sound valid until someone shows up in a new Lamborghini, Ferrari, or ?.

I think priority should be given to vintage cars for the reasons posted but if there are still vacant display spots left as the show date approaches perhaps then the owners of the new but interesting cars could fill those spots in.
Car shows for my taste should be restricted to cars manufactured 1930 to 1980. '50 to '71 American cars are my personal favorites, because I grew up with them.
