Two years ago I was absolutely thrilled to find and purchase a model on my Grail list. It was the DM Preview Society 1932 Ford Roadster in Brewster Green, a model limited to just 1000 worldwide. Needless to say, it didn’t show up for sale often and when it very, very rarely did, it was out of my comfort zone. The color really appealed to me, the shade of green really represents 1930’s to me. In my last post I told of my talent of breaking pieces off my models. My first examination of my new model included raising the folding hood to admire the highly detailed flathead. Very, very impressive! Of course when the hood came back down it flicked off the cowl light. I hate cowl lights. My first attempt to pick up the tiny light with tweezers sent the piece flying off to the unknown. I searched for it on the workbench, the surrounding floor area with no luck. I deduced that it must have gone between the wall and the back of the bench, so for fear of damaging the model while pulling the heavy bench from the wall I placed it on a nearby tool box for safety. With a mighty pull the bench came backward right into the toolbox and I watched as the Deuce went rolling off onto the concrete floor. Absolutely, Positively, Undeniably Totaled! Fast forward to last night, out of the wild blue yonder, while strolling eBay…..
Actually paid less this time and it’s new in the box.
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. There are no accidents in the universe, and this is the one you were supposed to have. Enjoy!
One of my all time favorite Fords from the thirties models. Like you Kevin, the color also reminds me of the thirties. Did you ever find the cowl light?
Congrats Kev, enjoy that beauty. But be very, very careful. 😊🙏
@geno Thanks brother, I’m not even going to bring it in from the porch when it gets here!
I think many of us here have similar stories. Glad it finally worked out for you.

@bob-jackman I did find the light whilst sweeping up the remains. I kept it and the engine and dash and sold the rest along with some other ruins on eBay. You just can’t have too many spare cowl lights!
@kevins Knocked the side mirror off the French Post Office Citroen the other day, fortunately an easy fix. Most of my models have learned to run for cover when they see me coming these days!
@geoff-jowett Your models are smarter than mine, they just sit there quivering with fear!
@kevins As Tony says, great outcome and I'm glad for you.
