Interesting history once you get by the first few minutes of ‘commercials’ by the History guy. No wonder European populations declined sharply in this period, aided by periods of disease which he does not spend time presenting, just the weather.

@david-green, amazing considering that this period came before the Little Ice Age.

I suppose it's possible that man could one day conquer weather. Should that day ever come, the world will change in ways we can't even imagine.

We will NEVER conquer weather - I just wish those “climate” weenies understood this. Good ol’ Mother Nature rules & will never give up her powers! The wind & the water will continue to knock your ass down, the ground will open up under your feet, volcanoes will erupt, earthquakes will occur, hurricanes & tornadoes cannot be stopped…I could go on & on…

....earthquakes & volcanos are not classified as "weather," more like geological events. Those indeed, would be immensely more difficult to control, if even possible. "Climate weenies" are mostly concerned with the very real phenomena and effects of global warming.  Current technology and modern science can, at their best, only hope to slow down global warming.

I concur that earthquakes & volcanoes are geological events, I was citing them from the perspective of “Ma Nature” being in charge. Global warming, on the other hand is mostly rubbish meant to scare people…yes, we humans do things that are environmentally unfriendly & we should do everything we can to correct those things, but most of what you hear is pure fear-mongering.

As an example, the earth is tilted on a 23 degree axis. Think of it as if we are tilted left. It takes about 25,000 years for the earth to be tilted 23 degrees to the right. What that means is that the portion of our planet that is closer to the sun today will be further from the sun then. Ice caps will change, what was once cooler will become warmer & vice versa. There’s way more to the global warming topic than those “climate” weenies are telling you & that’s done on purpose to get the masses on board with their idiocy. Did you ever hear any of these idiots mention this simple fact? Uhh…nope! They lie to us by omitting data…

Terry, I do not question your facts. I am certainly NO expert on the subject of Global Warming.  I will say this...  Despite anyone's views on ANY SUBJECT, ALL NEWS today, regardless the source, isn't objective.

It's no longer "just facts."   "News" is now "stories" (which MAY contain facts) coupled with opinions, countless-unending opinions, emotions, biases, etc...

Walter Cronkite is rolling over in his grave!

Therefore, am I surprised when I hear that Global Warming, or any other "topic of concern" has been falsely represented, or "half told," or reported, "incorrectly?"

Nope!

Today, if you want the truth, that will require effort.

Aside from objectivity in the news, I'm pretty sure Mrs. Cronkite would have a biased opinion on Terry kissing her husband.

The trouble with our disgraceful news/media quality is that it breeds major distrust; so that on the rare occasion where they are actually giving us the objective truth we, for the most part, won't believe what they say.  IMHO we are at an all time low in truly objective, qualified APOLITICAL news reporting.  It's damned scary given some of the very volatile and divisive social issues we face in North America.

Concur…what bothers me the most is knowing all those that ARE NOT paying attention - now that’s some scary schitt!

It’s always seemed odd to me that to get honest, truthful American news, I’d have to rely on the BBC…talk about ironic!
