I am very glad that I was able to retire from policing back in 2006 after 27 years. Just in time mentally too, as I now know in hindsight; decompression took a couple of years and will of course always linger to a degree. The decimation of life through addiction is soul crushing; mainly because it is/was so preventable just a few short years ago. Nobody listened to us folks on the ground working up close and personal in the middle of it, putting on band aids and picking up the pieces so to speak. You see....THEY had a more rounded perspective of the social condition and its contributing factors and were more enlightened and intelligent because of their better level of EDUCATION. That's modern politics for you.....getting re-elected by any means possible is Job 1.
Choosing apolitical for mental survival...I understand that.
And no, I do not want to start a political discussion on this delightful forum. Just letting off steam......now back to car stuff!!
