What happened to the bench seat?

@chris   Mercedes Benz was great in that regard, but the best service I have ever had - time and time again - was with Nordstroms.  Over the top customer service in every department.

My first car, a 1961 Falcon was the only car I owned that had a bench seat.  My other cars and SUVs had bucket seats.  I prefer bucket seats.  My 71 Chevelle had buckets. My brothers 72 Malibu has a bench seat.  When I ride with him I feel like I am sliding all over the place. His truck also has a bench seat and I get white knuckles trying not to slide out the door.
