Many years ago, when I was a small kid, my Dad got me this Schuco Mercedes-Benz spring-powered race car. I am not sure of the scale but you can see I can fit it in my hand.
It is wound up by a key, or it can be pushed down on the spring-loaded rear end and wound up that way. It came with some metal tools which could remove and re-install parts like the color-coded wheels and do a "pit-stop". Naturally, it could be steered with the wheel and "driven" manually, to practice parallel parking.<g>
Thanks, Dad !
Wow....what a fantastic memory to treasure!
I echo what Jack said and I can't get over the excellent condition it's in!
Cool car and good-looking hand!
The hand, I understand, is full-size and surprisingly realistic !
A great memory. How sweet is this! I love open-wheel race cars from this era.

It sure is! Thanks again, Dad.
Schuco made some really fun wind-ups based on European sportscars and Formula One.
They did ! I had some wind-up racecars and a late-1940's looking Frazer-like car (I still have) that has a hidden wheel so that it will never go off a tabletop while it's running. Many of them said "Made in the U.S. Zone of Western Germany".
