Fortunately this 1/12 kit has been redone by Italerai, but now in plastic. The Protar diecast kits are now quite rare (and expensive) but I built mine 30 years ago and it was obtained earlier when they were a more difficult sell, sitting on store shelves until many sold at sale prices. It was a beautiful but intimidating kit, including cast open-louver body panels and the relatively fine spoked wheels, and I had it for quite a while before finding enough motivation to build it. The rough looking steering wheel is that way because its rim is wrapped in a cloth strip for added grip as evidently was done on the 1/1. For durability, I used automotive 2-part paint, even though the 1/1 car was probably not quite so shiny (or smooth for that matter).
That is one very nice model, and your modeling skills are fantastic.
Beautiful build, Cliff.
What an impressive build. I can see why you hesitated before building this beautiful model. You did a fantastic job. I have several unbuilt models from that period which I look at periodically but so far have left in their boxes. I find the wheel building the biggest obstacle.
Another hit, it's outta the park. You do great work sir.
