This is Dan Gurney's #36 AAR Eagle Mk1 T1G race car as it won the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix. The 'Anglo' part of the "Anglo American Racers" is the 400 HP 3.0 liter V12 designed and built by Harry Westlake and his engineering company in East Sussex, England. Built in Santa Ana, California, this Gurney-Westlake collaboration marked the first American built car to win a Grand Prix since Duesenberg's 1921 French Grand Prix win. This was the car's only win. Westlake went on continuing to design an build engines, ultimately with the goal of producing V12 road cars, but somehow it never happened. This Eagle still exists today and is a perennial favorite at Goodwood Festival of Speed. This model by Automodello just won "Model of the Year" by Model Car Hall of Fame in the 1/12 to 1/18 category.

Really? I mean, it looks good - but it's that good? Do you feel this replica is worthy of such an award?
@chris Having the model, it's really hard to find faults. As to the judging, I guess it was about the competition also. I was surprised the category included 1/18. I would say, talk to these guys:
@rich-sufficool I'm checking it all out now, thanks..... Model Car Hall of Fame - Celebrating the best in diecast, model kits and slot cars
@chris I misread. The Gurney won 1/12 to 1/8 class. The 1/18 winner was the Auto World 1972 Dodge Demon GSS Mecum Auctions
@rich-sufficool ...yes, I saw that, but this Autoworld release winner didn't make much sense to me either, so.... I thought it best to simply keep my big fat mouth shut. But THANKS!
I was still mulling over the question, "Is it that good?" It IS a resin and plastic model with a touch of metal, but if it was a full blown mixed media replica, its MSRP would have to be up there with Amalgam... what? 10 to 20 grand? If it was, I surely wouldn't be owning one."This model by Automodello just won "Model of the Year" by Model Car Hall of Fame in the 1/12 to 1/18 category."
