Not a big deal these days, you could take a new Corvette from the showroom and blow "Big John" Mazmanian's 1961 Corvette off the track. Mazmanian bought the Vette new and was already winning in the Sport Modified class that year. 1962 was his breakout year. With a new 283 engine block bored out to 316 cid, a hot Iskenderian cam, Cragar intake, Hillborn injectors and a GMC 4-71 blower, he was squeezing 600 HP giving him his 11 second run at 129 mph. Modification to the Vette included crudely cutting open the rear wheel wells to accommodate  the massive 10.00 X 16 Dragmaster slicks with American Mag wheels on all fours. On the esthetic side, this may have been the first Vette modified with Impala styles 6 taillamps. People may complained that he ruined the Corvette chopping up the rear wheel wells, but the car became so iconic of the era, it recently sold for $247,500.

Precision Miniatures modeled the car restored to its original 1962 configuration included the old California ULD 543 license plate.

...once again, yours are the BEST pics of this model I've ever seen - and one I had to have because it looked so damn cool in this color even WITH those hacked  rear wheel openings!   I love it all.

ACME has since released a few variants of this, but none cooler, IMO, than "Big John's."   Obviously, the rear wheel cut-outs are no longer a hack-job,  but gone are the photoetched letters.  They've been replaced with tampo-lettering.  😞 😞

I don't have many drag cars but this one was a must - great detail at a great price

So good a price that I bought a second one as a parts car so I could build my Daytona Coupe Funny Car

I've always thought the Precision Miniatures Mazmanian Corvette was one of the most underrated and unappreciated 1:18 models on the market.  There is a ton of great detail for such a low-cost model.

Forgive my ignorance.....     Fantasy piece or a replica of a 1:1?  🤔 🤔 🤔

I don't collect race cars. The only reason I have the PM model is because it's a 1961 Vette.
