This was the premier German race car at the time being fought over by the prestigious national race team and the actual BMW sponsored team for the few available chassis. All the focus was on winning the 1940 redesigned Mille Miglia. So BMW went to the Italians who offered the services of Touring coach builders and this particular car wound up being driven by Italians. Its 2 liter multicarbed engine produced 135HP, but the the light weight and streamlined body put all of the entries on top. Notr the 'flip-up' skirts for easy tire changes.
Nice model and as usual outstanding camera work Rich. This is the first time I've seen this particular model, who made this one.
Hey Rich, great pictures and I love this car. I saw some of your pictures a year or two ago and searched, found two at different times and I'm still looking for one but right now prices are astronomical. I do have the roadster version but would love to have both. Here's a couple of pictures, the use of magnets is fantastic.
