....it's fair to assume that those who cut, chop, fab & destroy 1/18 diecasts routinely seek out "lower cost models." Personally, I take great pride in knowing I created something I love & want but spent as little as possible, doing it.
-However-
There are those on the other end of that continuum. Take this guy, for example. He had zero trepidation messing around with not one, but two 1/18 CMC Ferrari Fiat 642 RN2 Bartoletti Transport Haulers. He stripped one, and junked the other, wow! Now that takes REAL guts!
I must add that I do KNOW SOMEONE who came oh-so-close to doing about the same....just to obtain the wheels for another project. Can YOU imagine? 😯 😬 😯
The guy clearly has a masterful touch and if the results weren't so spectacular, one might have some unkind thoughts regarding wealth!
I like them both. The unexpected results are not just surprising, especially for someone who knows the initial value of the models, but in the eye appeal or shock value thereof!
The 'aging/weathering' was accomplished beautifully!
I can't imagine what kind of knucklehead came "Oh so close..." to destroying the CMC Bartoletti masterpiece! Some people, 'eh? 🙄 😉
Look at all the CMCs in the background. That's serious collection.
@rich-sufficool Yes, I noticed...... Fooling around with a "few thousand" worth of CMCs is no big deal for this guy.
Most collectors hold them in such high regard, that they barely open & enjoy them more than once or twice.... including myself. For some reason, the knock-off on my Mercedes racer froze, I should've greased the threads!
If this was a HW61, I'd use a bit more gentle persuasion, but I'm too much of a wimp to attempt that with a CMC. 😬 😳
@marty-johnson Just like the 1/1 scale cars....someone has their view of what a car should look like and the means to make it happen. Not my thing but that doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.
