....as the French would say, when referring to something tiny & fragile. Suddenly, the word Riviera ย makes sense. Despite the name being tossed about on Buicks throughout the 1950's, it's fair to say that the word, "Riviera"ย connotes dual meaning to car guys: First gen. Buick Rivieras and GM stylist, Bill Mitchell.
Reportedly, '63 Rivs were the first GM cars to offer frame-less side glass. I read this years ago but never challenged it. I suppose it could be true..???? ๐ค ๐ค ย
Highway 61's 1964 Buick Riviera is quite good. IMO, this slivery-blue paint seems to best accentuate the angular styling theme but inexplicably, cars produced in this color suffer "gappy fender-to-hood seems."ย ย HW61 tooled separate fenders and years ago I vowed to fix those gaps, of course, I haven't done it yet. ๐ ๐ย
@jkuvakas Yes indeed, something I did NOT know (...or forgot aboutย ๐ ๐ ๐) until recently. Despite being a Cadillac fan, the 1963-64 Riviera vs. the 1967 Eldorado is a no brainer.ย Buick wins! ๐
Thanks Chris for great pics of a beautiful model !ย
I LOVE that I see tire valve stemsย ย
Mee too! ๐ ๐ ๐ย
I'd have to check but I'm reasonable sure these particular stems may be unique this HW61 Buick.ย I think most or all other HW61s used the longer, black-metal (really nice ) valve stems.ย
It's a beautiful car and also H61 model ! It looks excellent (really in any color) and I am happy to have a couple of these 1/18 stand outs from them.ย
