In 1966, Alfa Romeo purchased Autodelta, a race prep workshop of engineer Carlo Chiti to make it their official racing department. Autodelta designed and built this type 33/2 sports car for the World Sports Car Championship circuit. The "33" was Alfa's project number and the "2" referred to the 2 liter V8 that produced 270 hp at 9600(!) rpm. A total of 28 cars were built for homologation and besides the Alfa team, it was run by a host of privateers. The model shown here by Ricko appears to be in 1968 24 Hr of Daytona racing livery.
