I have owned a few of these Mopar 340s in the past, a 71 Dodge Demon 340 and a 71 Plymouth Duster 340. And as a Ford man, I must say these 340s were "WICKED" race engines in disguise!!!

Nice one ! Great looking Ertl.
@josh: Who makes this model & where did you purchase it?
I have been looking for a model of a '70 to '72 model year.
I noticed that the rear license plate reads "Menards".
Any info would be helpful.

@bec23145...Sorry, this is Stangfreak's original post, I have no information on this model, loved the pix though!

It's an Ertl brand from the American Muscle series. I have no idea why it says Menards on the plates. I purchased this one at a Toys~R~Us about 20 years ago. I have seen more recent releases of it in different colors at a local "buy~sell~swap" hobby store though. There are plenty listed on ebay in several variations and colors. I believe this is the most recent release of it.
As I was searching I also found this Akron Arlen Vanke version drag car I will be checking into...
As I have said many times before, although I am a Ford Mustang man, I did own two of these 340s back in my day. The first was a 71 Dodge Demon 340 that I demolished street racing, the second was a 71 Plymouth Duster 340. Both of these 340s were serious race engines in disguise. I won allot of street races against big block Chevy 396s and 454s, Ford 428 Cobra Jets and 427s, even Mopar 383s and 440s. Those small block 340s had both torque and power, and the RPMs to keep pulling. With M&H Racemaster slicks, both of these cars easily broke into the mid 12 second brackets in the quarter mile with only Hooker headers and Carter Thermo~quad 4bbl carburetors. Back in the 70s a 12 second street car was "FAST"...LOL... Will always love and respect those little street monsters...
