I wanted to do a Truck and thought the 1978 Dodge Lil Red Express Truck would make a good show.
The fastest 1978 American production vehicle....?? Gee Wiz, I never knew.
I remember when these came out we teenagers kind of chuckled because we thought they were a bit "overdone" with the stacks and door graphics. I still think they were overdone but appreciate them more now just because they added a bit of flair to the "dark" 70s vehicles. I seem to recall they were done in black at some point too.....do I have that right?? I wonder if this one is done in 1:43 scale yet?
The truck you are thinking about was called the warlock, it was done in Black and Hunter Green I believe, I don't know it it came in any other colors. The Lil Red Express Truck only came in red.
I found this on the Warlock:
The Dodge Warlock, originally a concept vehicle and part of Dodge's late 1970s "adult toys" line, is a short wheelbase truck that was produced in limited production in 1976 and regular production from 1977 to 1979. Based on the Dodge D Series, the Warlocks most commonly came in black, however other colors could be special ordered. Its main draw was that it was a factory customized truck, also known as a "trick truck", and was designed to appeal to young 4x4 buyers.
Hot Wheels has the Lil Red Express Truck.

Interesting....thank you. I see they still use the Warlock name in the Ram series.
The 1978 was listed as the fastest vehicle primarily because trucks were exempt from the same emissions rules as cars however that changed in 1979. A young neighbor boy bought a 1978 which needed quite a bit of work. He and I stripped it down and I painted it for him. Another neighbor who was retired had a wood working shop and redid the wood on the body and the bed. The truck was a blast to drive. Naturally I have this model along with another which I gave to the neighbor boy.
