The first generation of the mid-engined Honda NSX was produced from 1990 to 2005. NSX stood for 'New Sportscar eXperimental'. In 1992 they introduced the NSX-R as a more race-worthy option that eliminated some of the creature comforts losing 265 lbs and revamped the suspension for stiffness.

True story.  I once attended an accident on a winding secondary roadway.  A drunk driver in a brand new red one of these had at high speed, crossed over the center line, sideswiped a Toyota Celica, then travelled several hundred yards before going off road right, sideswiping  a huge rock, then going into a long yaw skid and crashing into a big oak tree....whereupon a large upper branch cracked off and landed on top of the car.  The only part left salvageable on it was the rear deck lid.  The amazingly lucky idiot driver got out and walked away.  I located him up the road about 1/8th mile and of course he was indignant that I would detain him as he "just went into the ditch".  Within one week he had replaced the car with an identical one and on his acreage property the crashed one was left under a tarp....no insurance payout of course, because of the drunk driving charge.  Some people have too much money.......

AA did a great job on their NSX models.  They're worth a pretty penny now.

I was stunned by the beauty of this car when it was introduced and still love it all these years later.
