Imagine what Steve McQueen would say, he'd be in shock! 😬 😬 😬
I can't even imagine that kind of money for anything let alone a car.
Jerry Seinfeld is the seller. What, 30 years collecting residuals isn't enough? How much does he need?
@paul-rouffa Being a Seinfeld fan I know his net worth is north of 1.1 billion (not bad for a comic who was not the "brains" of his show - that was Larry David ) but to ask, "How much does he need?" is rather pointless. It's Jerry's car; he can do whatever he wants - right or wrong.
I've never met anyone who said, "Oh, I have enough money, here ...take these leftovers." Everyone wants more money. I saw that auction and crowd-posted YouTube videos; some people were getting down-right nasty & belligerent toward Jerry.
Like anything we've tried to sell: jewelry, cars, property, items on eBay, etc... If items don't sell, we lower the price, if items sell quickly... we increase the price. But it's our "privilege" to navigate through the experiences. I suspect Jerry's looking for $30 million. I have no idea if he'll get it, but it's his "right" to try.
I'll never forget Sammy Davis Jr. being asked (in the early 1970's ) about why he thinks he should be receiving $75,000 a night for his Vegas shows. "What makes you worth that much?"
His reply, "Because some cat is willing to pay that man." 😀 😎
What I found odd was that I don't think Jerry Seinfeld's name was ever mentioned. I thought maybe he had already sold it privately. You would think that his name would add a bit of cache to the bidding.

Rich, there was a preview video that featured Jerry. Based on all the info (print & video ) I'm aware of, Seinfeld owns this Porsche - still.... 25 million was not enough. 😀 😏 😀
Well, I just read a press release and Jerry does own it.
The auctioneer started it off at 50 million. That was designed to tell the crowd what it obviously didn't catch.
Seinfeld is claimed here on the video but not vocally:
I have a theory as to why it didn't sell for the BIG $'s. In August 2000, I was in California for the 50th Anniversary Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach. Two days prior, 8/19/2000, Jay Olins and I attended the Monterrey Car Show & Auction. Guess what was there?
Just before taking these pictures of the car, my hands were all over it. I'll bet they never got my finger-prints off that baby!
Tony, I actually read that about two hours ago! Amazing! Why Most People Are Full of Shit, and How to Not Be One of Them - Peter Shankman 😀 😀 😀

What did you read two hours ago; one of these posts or Shankman? It's actually an excellent read and he's right on all counts. A pretty sad commentary on these things that actually are!
@perrone1 Well, I was trying to be funny... After you noted JS's car didn't sell because you touched it - it was the "full of ***t" part I wanted you to notice. I didn't read even one word of that article(s). Sorry... it was a lame joke. 😔 😔 😔 I'll do better next time.
Well, OK, maybe Seinfeld you're not but he isn't too funny any more any way. I wish it sold for $50 mil so that I could brag - my fingerprints are all over that expensive piece of machinery!@perrone1 Well, I was trying to be funny... No one wipes that car down do they?
For anyone who cares.... Jerry Seinfeld has now reported that the car was a sold a few days after the auction ended. Neither the buyer nor the price was disclosed but one can only assume "$25 -$30 million-ish" was agreed upon. Jerry no longer owns this famous Porsche 917 that he treasured for almost 25 years.
