6X2XTyrell [PIC]

Hey... try anything once!
4 little wheels up front to reduce drag and aid in cornering, this '76 Tyrell Ford P34 driven by Jody Scheckter was a novel and successful design that took the pole position at the Swedish Gran Prix and Jody's team mate came in second.

Pretty cool and unusual racecar. I would have hoped that during a race pit-stop, that a member of the crew didn't put a front tire on the rear !

Along with the design advantages you mentioned, the 6 wheel design also aided braking too.

Other teams were also looking into that design too, but

F1 put the kibosh on it by banning any car with more than 4 wheels.

Sadly (well not really) I only have this model in 1/43 scale.
