A new project

Just so you don't think that I only pick on CMC here is my next project that calls for 'fixing' an AUTOart model

photo no longer available

I took this picture a few years back at Laguna Seca during the Rolex Historics weekend. Dan Gurney was the featured racing icon that year and they had a good number of the cars he raced on hand - including the Porsche F-1 car. This is the same chassis as the #30 liveried car he drove to win the French Grand Prix.

I'm getting the AUTOart #8 Bonnier car and will remove that livery and replace it with #30 livery. That will give me a better representation of Gurney's car than the 'stock' AUTOart model. I have no idea why AUTOart modeled their #30 car the way they did but it is incorrect. My little number change will fix that.

If anyone else is interested in getting some decals let me know as I'll be printing an entire sheet of #30 and I'm only going to need three of them.

Frank, would you please explain the problems with the Gurney version, thank you.

I seem to have memories of Bill Bennett modifying the rear suspension.

The prime issue............

Is that the rear torsion bars were not exposed as they are on the model.

This photo is of the car as it appeared at the German Grand Prix - the photo behind it is of the car at the French Grand Prix. Yoc an see that the rear torsion bars are not exposed on either.
