You all argue what to call the special E90 BMW 320si that never got the well deserved "M" status. 2600 total of this hand built 2.0 liter cars were built for homologation to enter the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) in 2006. It was never sold in North America and 500 RHD models were made for the British and Japanese market. The 320 2.0 liter 4 was bored out and destroked to maintain the same displacement but now could redline at 7300 rpms. Stripped down with lots of carbon fiber, including the valve covers, they even ditched the 'Valvetronic' variable valve tech to save weight. All that was done to achieve 173 HP - 23HP over stock. The chassis remained the same and the body came from the M Sport model and outside of the tiny "si" (special injection) addition, the main noticeable difference was the 18" BBS wheels with ADVAN Yokohama tires. This AUTOart model shows the 320si in full race mode and the last two pics show the stock si.
Very impressive and highly derailed BMW. It's got a bunch of sponsors but one has to look quickly to see them as it races by !
