I have been eyeballing a very special model for a few weeks and the seller and I have had a couple conversations, the culmination of which was a drop from 425€ down to 390€, plus a negligible shipping cost. I am doing my level best to keep my new 'obssession' in check, but my birthday is just around the corner and I would like to bring this puppy home. As of ten minutes ago, I was offered his lowest price (without any prodding from me), of 350€ plus the small shipping charge (8€ insured), for a pristine model. I have paid just under 200€ for a few models, mostly 1/43 scale, but this is a big step for me. The only other 1:18 model of this Minichamps 1939 Delage D8 120 Cabriolet I have seen online was for 1100€, from the Middle East. I have given myself twenty minutes to either do, or not. Wish me luck.
@perrone1 Thank you and he accepted my lower offer of 335, so she will be coming home, soon. I am jazzed!
@rich-sufficool It felt right at the moment, so I went for it. It is a beautiful model and one of my top five 1:1 dream cars. But, it was 390USD, when converted to dollars. I still feel good about it, though.
@chris Crimmey! Seven-hundred for a Mustang? It must have incredible detail.
@rich-sufficool After sleeping on it, I still feel it was a good decision to jump in on this one. I agree with your assessment, too, for it is a beautiful model and this one is number 246 of the litter.
In the world of fine art the lower the number of an image in a limited edition used to be the better of the run, because the plate used for an etching would lose some of its detail over time and the grooves would hold more ink, thereby diminishing the preciseness of the image. I can't imagine there is a correlation between diecast production and intaglios, so 246 just confirms that it is part of the edition and has no bearing on its detail.
@rich-sufficool A thought occurred to me: I have the 1:43 Minichamps 1939 Delage D8-120, and now the 1:18 of the same, and are there other models of this car in 1:24 or 1:12?
