and you now have an icon. This 1967 Shelby GT350 was such a cool looking high performance street car. Built on the redesigned larger '67 fastback. it featured a fiberglass front end with functioning hood scoop. The rear deck was also fiberglass with an integrated spoiler. Upper and lower side scoops cooled the brakes and provided air extraction for the cabin. The lighting assemblies were really cool with sequential taillamps borrowed from the Cougar along with the iconic inboard driving lamps. Later builds moved those headlamps more outboard due to regulations from certain States. It was powered by the fairly expensive K-code solid lifter 289 that was tweaked from 271 HP to 306. It was a lot more nimble and fun to drive than its big brother GT500 with its heavy 428 Police Interceptor V8 that was more of a true muscle car. A total of 1174 GT350s were built including a few specially race engineered and supercharged units.
This model by the now defunct Lane exact detail was quite the pleasant surprise in 2004. Detailing included hydraulic and emergency brake lines and cables as well as the fuel line.
Here's a later build with the headlamps moved outboard for State requirements.
Fabulous! Those inboard grill headlights always looked so cool - the hell with State regs! 😏
