I need to remove stripes from a Maisto C8 Corvette.  It seems I recall reading that specific solvents will remove them without harming the paint.  Do you know what I should use?

So...you want me or my son (who is a Ph.D. He truly is "Professor Moroni")?

Ok Marty here ya go:

1) I bought these cans of KLEAN-KUTTER and mineral spirits more than 25 years ago...from JC Penny's home center (HA! Remember that?).  THESE WILL REMOVE STRIPES/GRAPHICS WITHOUT harming the paint. THE KLEAN-KUTTER WORKS THE BEST!

2) Please note that these are NOT paint thinners.  Paint thinners do NOT work all that well.

3) "GOO-OFF" also works if you can find it.

4) Automotive brake fluid will work to REMOVE ALL THE PAINT ON METAL OR PLASTIC WITHOUT DAMAGE.  **RECOMMENDED ONLY FOR COMPLETE PAINT REMOVAL**

5) Moisten a CLEAN, SOFT cloth with KLEAN-KUTTER then use QUICK passes over the unwanted painted stripes, graphics, numbers, etc.  No more than 3-4 "good swipes" are usually all that's required.  Once your unwanted stripes/graphics have been removed, quickly wipe the area with a damp (cold water) cloth. Towel dry and buff (using a bit of wax is optional).

6) DO NOT ALLOW ANY KLEAN-KUTTER/MINERAL SPIRITS TO COME IN CONTACT WITH ANY PLASTIC (CLEAR, CHROME OR OTHERWISE)!

@chris - Thanks for your help.  You said it was Goo Off which I couldn't find.  Could you mean Goof Off or Goo Gone?

@marty-johnson  Yes, I'm quite certain I "goofed." (...sorry 😔 😏)  I combined 2 product names to "invent" a 3rd.  As noted, though, Klean-Kutter...a paint remover product...works best. Good luck.
