CMC 1/18 Mercedes Targa Florio 1924.

Early open wheel racers are one of my favorite car 'genres'. And this would be my most wanted old open wheel racer. A few always listed on ebay but mostly by opportunists with excessive buy it now prices. And I've always just missed those that did go to market that went for good prices. Also at big prices models are more expensive to buy from Australia because of exchange rate and postage costs. Just over a week ago one listed on the local ebay which I secured at a great price from a local seller only a few suburbs away. So pleased to finally have it. Not quite 'game enough' yet to open the hood hinges. Just had to post a few pics though.

Congrats, Geoff  -  those CMCs are fantastic models.

Here's one of my favourite open-wheelers by CMC and I had the nerve to open the hood of the blue one...

Eventually you will, trust me.  You can move the handbrake & remove the wheels too.  May I suggest that if/when you loosen the knock-offs apply a tiny bit of thin oil or grease on the hubs, this will prevent rust.  A few months back, while staging some pics, I tried to remove the wheels on mine but the knock-offs wouldn't budge.    Obviously, I didn't want to force it.

You may want to rub a bit of thin grease/oil on all those tiny springs too.... After 10 years, I've noticed that without "protection,"  a few have develop surface rust (SEE PICS )... just like the real thing!  Cool but not-so-cool.... if you know what I mean.  😎 🙄

Congrats!  .... and don't lose your gas cap when you take it off!

I normally don't collect open wheel race cars but do have the blue Bugatti. The detail is beyond belief and up to the standards set by CMC.
