This 1930 Bentley "Speed 6"Coupe is not as famous as its Gurney-Nutting "Blue Train" brother. The body for this chassis was built by a small coach building firm, Corsica. It was named for the shop's first location on Corsica Street in North London. It employed no in-house designer and worked off the vision of the owner who commissioned their work. If the owner's vision wasn't practical or feasible, they would bring in an engineer to make a more workable design. Never employing more than 20 employees, they still were rather prolific in their production over the years. Some of their more famous builds were the Tulipwood Hispano-Suiza and 14 Corsica-bodied Bugatti Type 57s. The firm was run by Charles Henry Stammers from its inception in 1920 to 1945 when Stammers and another principle died during WWll.
Stunning photos of a model that few (including me) know about. Probably the best 1/18 scale hood ornament I've ever seen....very cool!
@chris Yeah, that hood ornament was worth the price of admission.
Fabulous model and writeup Rich. Who made this model? Would love to have one to park next to my "Blue Train"
Another great one. You keep showing models to die for, Rich. Love them and cannot wait to see what you come up with next.
