Buick's Field of Dreams, 1/18-scale (PICS)
The first two of Minichamps' planned Buick dream cars arrived during 2014, and I was thrilled to add both the 1951 LeSabre and 1954 Wildcat II to my collection. Probably more of Buick's 1950's-era dream cars and Motorama specials have survived than those of other manufacturers, and Buick gathered its extant dream cars together several years ago for its "Field of Dreams" photo:
Minichamps has promised models of both the 1953 Wildcat I and 1956 Centurion (both appearing in the second row in the above photo), and I eagerly await the arrival of those two exciting additions.
I pulled out the Minichamps LeSabre and Wildcat II for some photos, and displayed them alongside Anson's old 1938 Buick Y-Job. The three look great together!

Outstanding images of these sensational scale dream cars ! These
Buicks are real knockouts, both then and now.
Buick's first two rows in the "Field of Dreams" are worthy classics and, if one just photo-shop's out that rather unfortunate distant final row, you have remaining some designs that still hold up and make for the basis of something that can wear the Buick emblem !

I always thought the XP-300 & Wildcat I were the same car. XP-300 was reskinned to be the Wildcat I
They share the same front end sheet metal, windshield & interior. The Front Bumper is different and the Slots in the hood are closed on the wildcat I. The XP-300 was 1951 and the Wildcat I was 1953 so the Wildcat I was possibly made from the retired show car XP-300 from 1951? The 53 Wildcat I shown at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel was Black and shortly after that show disappeared to become a/the white one? Could the Black car be the old XP-300? Looks like the side cladding (Now we know where Pontiac's got the cladding, geez 1951) was removed and a new Deck Lid with a double fin/ridge as well as Tail Lights, Rear Fender Shape and Rear Bumper were the major changes. Where are you Brian, Mr. Buick can we ask the question?

They are different cars, Dave. The XP-300 still exists, as does one of the Wildcat I's. It is thought that more than one of the Wildcats were built, accounting for the differing color and rear body configurations that were photographed. Hope this helps.
