And here it is with the new cover............

In the end I put a little time and about $40 worth of parts into it - Looks really good to me for a sub $200 race car model.
Much better! And a 1 of 1 that only you have! Good work Frank!
Thanks..........
I have to admit I do get a 'pride of ownership' feeling when I'm successful in upgrading a model.
I came up with a pretty good method for making a tonneau cover with a clean tight fit. I'd be happy to share the design with anyone who is interested.

Great job like always Frank
Beautifully done, but I would expect no less.

Not having a good day!!
+1
Thanks guys.......
its nice to be able to show this stuff off to such a great bunch of 'tifosi"
Great result. Wheels always make or break a model . . . that and stance!
It's always a pleasure to add details to the model and then admire them when they sit on the shelf.
I too like making budget models stand up well next to their higher priced brethren!
Can't agree more Bob..........
Bad wheels/tires really kill the 'realism' of a model as does the wrong stance. Of the over 180 models that I've modified almost half have been to address the wheels/tires, stance or both.
What credit cards will you take and how long until production? I saw on another site you were doing some custom livery's for some friends and someone said you should start a business. Well here's your first customer! That's a fantastic looking model now, I trust you for a fair price. Looks like a good TSM resin $250 to $299 I would guess? What do you think, take some pre-orders and do 5 or 10 runs, could even be fun!
Vast improvement! Well done!
Thanks for the compliment..................
but I've never been able to do commission work for others successfully.
I tend to be a perfectionist at heart but do not have the skill to pull off modifications to my complete satisfaction. I would not be able to get the model modification 'perfect' and that is the only way I would ever charge for anything. The decal work I've done has always been without charge except to ask that the recipient help out somebody else when they get the chance.
The other issue is time. I'm still working full time and have enough pressure at work that I really don't want to commit myself to additional work.
All that being said, the cost of materials for this car is about $50 and the work itself, now that I've got a process worked out, takes about three hours. Then there is shipping which is dependent on where you live.
I still have one partial 'unknown' and that is the wheels and tires. The ones I used came from another car that I did a number of years ago. I've ordered more of what I hope to be the same size and quality of wheels but will not know until they arrive if I have the right combination. Once I'm satisfied that I have a source for 'the right' wheel sets I can consider doing more.
So the bottom line is if I can confirm the wheels, settle on a labor charge, and get people to accept that they 'will get it when they get it' I might consider it.
