HA, HA!Β Β Told ya!Β
But, auh....Β on a website mostly frequented by guys...Β I'm thinking there's probably a better "Topic Subject phrase" that would be less ambiguous. π¬ π¬ π¬Β
....just say'nΒ πΒ
Very cool model.Β The Ramchargers sure brought up the level of excitement in drag racing back in their day.
That '71 RamchargersΒ Challenger is really nice and VERY tempting (love that sky-high hood scoop ).Β Since I don't recall you ever posting pics, I'm guessing one of your first 2024 acquisitions will be a "regular"Β 1/18 1963 RamchargersΒ Dodge.Β You gottaΒ have that one, right? π π― πΒ
Years ago, I started a "wheel correction project."Β Β HW61 used front rims (2 different designs!!Β π© π©)Β Β on the rear... I need to paint this tu-toneΒ red/white scheme on those rims....then find proper rear rims.
@chris - Yeah, I gotta get the '64.Β Β
Concerning the wheel paint, it's puzzling why the Ramchargers had the red/white wheels mounted in the front.Β The purpose of doing that was so rear wheelspin and traction could be assessed.Β I can only guess that the Ramchargers moved their rear wheels to the front and never bothered to repaint them.Β At any rate, during the '60s, all kinds of changes were common among all racecars, and virtually every kind of combination to paint, wheels, tires, and other changes was standard operating procedure.Β Also, at one point in '64, the Ramchargers actually had a slight AWB configuration.Β The forward movement of the front wheels can be clearly seen in this photo.Β Β
Also, it would be cool to do a custom modification of the '67 "Science Car."Β The '67 Dart is available in diecast. It would be extremely difficult to modify in 1:18, but still possible.Β Β
What isn't available in diecast is the '66 Ramchargers AWB Dart.Β Someone would have to print a 3D body.Β I don't know how to 3d print, but not only could the Ramchargers be done, but the Dick Landy Dart as well.Β Β
I can only guess that the Ramchargers moved their rear wheels to the front and never bothered to repaint them.
Yes, excellent point; but since I can verify it... I will replicate it. πΒ Β (..and yes I goofed, I meant to say '64 DodgeΒ )Β You introduced me to that '67 RC Dart, which would make a fine 1/18 project for you.Β
I've had some LUCK with companies when I inquire about scales not shown. USUALLY, for and added fee, they can "up"Β the scale from, say, 1/25 to 1/18.Β
Speed City makes the exact '66 AWB Dart you're looking for but in 1/25. They may be able to go to 1/18.Β
Good luck Marty.

@chris - Yes, I've reached out to them in the past about doing some of their models in 1:18 scale.Β They've declined.Β I've sent another request for the following:
1965 Plymouth Barracuda
1965 Dodge Dart
1966 Dodge Dart
If they are willing, it would enable me to build the following models along with the aforementioned Landy and Ramchargers '66 Darts.Β Β
Ha!Β I've actually replicated the logo on the Tom McEwen Hemi-Cuda. I was going to cheat and use the '66 Hemi Under Glass.Β LOL!Β Β
Β
@chris - I just heard from Speedcity.Β This was their response.Β Β
@chris - It seems 1:18 is the red-headed stepchild of scale model cars.Β For some strange reason, 1:16 seems to draw more interest in producing aftermarket parts and accessories.Β Hence my faux article called "Best Modification Debate: Plastic or Diecast," in the faux issue of "Super Stock and Mod Illustrated."Β LOL!Β π€£Β
Glad to see you have no bitterness... and you can laugh it off.Β π π πΒ Β But it kills me knowing "your"Β '66 AWB Dart is just "sitting there"Β ready to build but it's the wrong scale! π π© π Β Β NICE COVER BTW! π πΒ
Yes, 1/24 -1/25 & 1/16 do enjoy greater cottage industry-resin/3-D support than 1/18. I attribute that to the wealth of plastic models available in those scales. Other than "hackers like us,"Β Β 1/18 diecast replicas are not normally viewed as "models"Β that can be disassembled, augmented, customized, etc...
Heck! Even 1/64 dudes have more aftermarket 3-D & resin support (because of the low cost associated with such tiny parts ).
I'm working on a 1/64 Project now.....Β these are 3-D printed brake drums. π πΒ
I did a double take with that Dart Charger pic. It's an AWB in the WRONG DIRECTION! I had to go look it up to find that the engine was in the rear. That was pretty darn imaginative for those early funny car days.
BTW: I don't see "Candymatic" in the livery anywhere. Does it have a manual 4 speed?
