(PICS) Jim, here's a few internet pics. A few points of interest..... 1) Most versions have a ..

...chrome steering wheel; you'll need to paint the "hoop" black (paint the radio silver).

2)There's no top but I use "an extra" 1938 Lincoln up-top from a 1/18 Signature model (it's close). I'll scratch-build a top one day.

3) The top "hatch" is a separate but no-opening piece. On day I'll disassemble this model to see if it's hinged or if I can fabricate some hinges; why not?

Overall, it's a great model with a few quirts(gappy vent windows, 1/6 antenna, absent engine detail) but you should love it.

Chris, I see that on some cnvrts the vent windows don't match up to the 'A' pillars.

Have you ever disassembled the model to try and 'correct' the angle of the windshield or taken off the inner door panel and re-position the vent window?

As for the car, the seller says it has never been out of the box. That (as we all know) can go either way but I really like the correspondence I had with the guy. He packs and ships like I do, his pictures looked like a new piece considering it was indeed still in the box AND, to him, Expedited Shipping means Two Day Mail. What a concept huh? So we'll see.

The case is really nice. I was knocked out with it when I first received it. The new one will hold seven cars (39"H) is two inches wider (16"W), one inche deeper (6"). I just don't like looking at the cars stuffed in like sardines. Just me. I'll post some pics when I get the new case.

Bruce is a real easy guy to deal with. It should be a pleasurable experience for you if you decide to go this way. Good luck man.

Thanks for the tips. I have a question for you. Do you have any idea if the steering wheel is plastic or metal? I would like to try an old trick that involves shrink tubing but it can't be plastic.

The up top from the Signature 1938 Lincoln sounds very interesting. I have always like the silhouette with the up top in place on the real car. I will watch out for one on eBay. If it's an extremely common car that's on eBay all the time, that just shows my ignorance when it comes to 1:18. One of the reasons I appreciate the help.

The idea about hinging the hatch sounds like a task to me but then again, I am kicking around the idea of re-doing a 1/16 car IF I can find someone who makes the PE names for the side of the car. I haven't built a model in decades so, I don't know...

I'm glad to hear that overall, you like the car. I think it will fit right in. I am really looking forward to the Minichamp Motorama cars and the Lincoln Futura. I just love the concept cars. Now if I could just get a 54 Chrysler Ghia and 56 Chevy Impala. I'm starting to get into this 1:18 thing.

(PICS) JIm, two "up-top" pics. This is my model and aside from simply setting the top......

...in place I've left it alone. I think, however, it would be easier to fab a new one if/when I need accuracy.

-The steering wheel is ALL plastic but because it's chromed use a good quality paint. You can't strip it 'cause you'll need to preserve all that "other chrome." (You'll need to put a red dot in the center).

- I mentioned the "hatch" only as point of interest. I ALWAYS found it curious when manufactures engineer separate pieces then fix their mobility. Why bother? So...there's got to be something going on.

The tires are really nice with correct detail and more importantly correct whitewall width.

-It's easy to get hooked on 1/18. Years ago I NEVER really wanted anything to do with them. Those first 1/18 Ertls were toy-ish muscle-car era chunky "lumps." But when Ertl created HW61 and released their 1951 Studebaker, that had a not only a museum look but "100" opening features-all for $34.99 I was in.

Steve, the best bet for a fix would be to "re-angle" the WS frame. I haven't yet tried.

It is a fairly heavy case. I mount all my cases with (4) 3 inch butterfly toggle bolts. The only way my cases come off the walls is if the wall comes down. In that case, my first concern probably wouldn't be my cases. LOL.

By the way, Bruce packs them very well and ships UPS ground. No problems...at least none for me.

As for the up top, what if you were to start at the bottom of the top at the back of the door and round off the plastic up to the turning point and just round it into the top lip. Then a bead of a modeling putty around the outside edge of the new cut to match up with the existing red bead already around the top? Do you think that could work?

I have always loved the CMC cars and am waiting on the Bugatti Corsica to fill up the 5 car display I got from Bruce. On the other hand, I have never much cared for the renditions of American cars in 1:18 because of the plastic tires and the like.

I have Christine from (Auto World) simply because I liked the lights . It's a shame really. The car has some really nice detail but the humped middle and the way the side windows fit isn't very good.

Then, I ordered the Sun Star white 58 Lincoln. That's the car that drug me kicking and screaming into 1:18 scale.

Now I have to have a set of cases for the following 1:18

I have 150 DM/FM cars (1:24) in DM cases and a converted bookcase so I have to pick and choose carefully because of space limitations. However, I would also like to have a set of white Funeral cars from Precision Miniatures, Ecto 1 and God knows what else I will wind up "having to have" So yes, I can understand the disease. I have had it all my life.
