Got to show someone besides the wife.......
I just got back from vacation. While out and about I found a few 1:18's to bring home...............

These first five I paid $18 each which I thought was a deal............
But these last two.....OH MY !!

No boxes and they need a little TLC..........but for $25 for the pair I just could not leave them.......

All Ertl winners in my book. BTW...those black rims on the truck are correct.

Do you have any info on the Fords? I think that they were made for J.C.Penny's but I don't know the year of the run or how many were made........

Lee, I'm no expert on the JCP Sunliner sets but here's what I "think" I know. They go back..........
...about 12-14 years and may have been a cataloged-only purchase. Sold always as a set and I believe yellow was the only color. As for value, not really more than any other two 1/18 1956 Ertl Sunliners.
Again, I'm NOT an expert on these.

Neither am I but I saw a set in Mandarin/Cream top dn convertibles Reg issue sold by many.
The Yellow version was made for JCPenny Catalog sold fall of 2000. I could be off by a year but I still lean towards the 2000 for year. It was a cool offering but I would wonder how many Penny sold. Ertl was acquired by Racing Champions (RC-2) in 1999 and they merged their two lines of Diecast to get as much coverage as possible. I worked for the Collectibles Division (1996-1997) selling custom colored & Imprinted Cars, Trucks and Football Helmets etc.
the 56 Ford was a project which was passed upon in the 1996 meetings so was only Talk while I was there. RC-2 did not do much Custom Imprinting for customers they were more "High Volume 1/64th Scale cars in 10,000 pieces" but would have done the yellow 56 for JCP only because they would not know what to expect.

I have a Sample of the Step Side with White walls and full wheel Covers in Turquoise.
Pre production truck where they decided to offer it as a workhorse whit Blackwalls only. I also have several 1/64th Trucks all 1 off's that were produced for possible Gifts to trucking company Customers as Premiums. Sometimes we put the truck Co Phone number on top so the account would have it on their desk to show off and also have the Phone number handy for business. Ah the Premium business. You haven't lived till you sold a 1/4 scale Football helmet to a college team for an Alumni Gift in the school colors of course. All Diecast, let's see them use diecast for that job.
