Drop top '63 LeMans (another John Fox special)..

This hot little Tempest is a clone of the car my Mom bought new in May of 1963. She opted for the new 326 V8 and 3 speed stick because she had grown up shifting gears, and she knew my brother and I would enjoy it! She was an interior designer and loved the Nocturne Blue with 2 tone blue interior. The white convertible top set off the whole rig.Trust me, it was very quick car for the time. Lots of good memories.

H61 came out with a line of these cars, all coupes, well over 10 years ago. They were exceptionally well detailed. I had the Nocturne Blue car on display in a case since introduction, plus a few more of various colors, etc in storage. Happily the blue coupe also featured the standard trans. I was able to gather up a blue interior, the 12 hole wheelcovers and whitewalls from other versions of the model

From there the car was off to John Fox's Your Car In Diecast shop in Arizona, with instructions to make it a drop top. John did a wonderful job. He's a terrific craftsman, easy to work with, and professional. I was thrilled with the finished model.

My Mom passed away last year at age 97. So it means a little extra to me to gaze at the Tempest in its special case, remembering Mom's big smile when she rolled into the driveway in 1963.
