The GMP 330 P4 spyder, although it's liveried for the 1967 BOAC 500, Is exactly what I wanted. Although some of the 330s were converted back and forth to Berlinettas, the spyder is the the icon of that car. 25 years after the I bought the Jouefs, this GMP really excited me as I knew I was going to get a definitive replica. When I received it, one thing dampened my enthusiasm a bit... the unusually tall ride height. I kept it as is because I needed to do a pictorial review for our database and after that it has remained undisturbed in the display case.
The Jouef is the classic #23 spyder, but this variant has the headlamps deleted and the covers blacked out. I never found out what race this variant modeled but one can assume it wasn't a very long endurance race. As with the one 412P4, I replicated the ignition system, 'glassed' the single windscreen mirror. added mesh to the nose intake and some other minor stuff. I still display it because of the different livery and its more accurate ride height. These Jouefs are still available under the Revell brand and pictured of them seem to indicate that some of the tooling was redone as the panel fit and gaps are much tighter than the original releases.
The Jouef:
such a beautiful race car. I definitely like the ride height of the Jouef, correct or not. Road race cars should look low to the ground. The GMP is an amazing model, wish I had grabbed one.
Great comparison! Thanks, Rich!!

Gavin is right in my view, it is such a beautiful racing car ! Both GMP and Jouef did such a nice job on this bright red Ferrai.
That's some great detail on the Jouef engine. What did you do to upgrade the ignition system?

Jim Glickenhaus owns one of the 412Ps...it was just announced its going up for auction in Monterey. Considering its rarity, it should bring $15M+.
Good article here from Hagerty: https://www.hagerty.com/media/market-trends/hagerty-insider/if-it-sells-this-ferrari-could-be-2023s-most-expensive-car/
@jkuvakas 4 coils; 2 distributors and 24 ignition wires ( 2 plugs per cylinder)... and don't tell me it's not the correct firing order. LOL I didn't doe metal exhaust shrouds like the 412 and I don't remember why not.
