The "All Japan Grand Touring Car  Championship" (JGTC) is a unique circuit where the Japanese automakers can try out new tech in competition. In 2003, rule changes offered new freedom for engine design and placement, chassis design and aerodynamics, with only a restriction on throttle bodies to even the playing field with limiting horsepower to 360. Here's two 'test cars' from Honda and Nissan made to test performance and endurance. Endurance was important because only 2 engines were allowed to be used per car for the entire season. AUTOart released these sealed body replicas to honor that season. Offering them in sealed body format wasn't much of a let down as neither company would allow the engine compartments to be photographed for replication. The models themselves offer as much detail as you could have without removing the bonnet.

So what!   I what those engines anyway!  LoL

Seems to me that super-hardcore-Asian race fans would be among the few folks on earth that could appreciate these replicas.  Were these AA  models released as a set?  How well known is this JGTC outside of Japan?

@chris As a "set". I guess we'd be missing Toyota's Supra entry. I got these two models as review pieces w/o any back story. The JGTC series seems similar to Porsche and Lamborghini 'Super Cup" series just combining Japan's "Big Three". Asia including Australia Have their Grand Prix and GT circuits. Holden has its own super cup series. Asian racing is vibrant and wildly popular. We focus on American and European events.

They weren't released as a set & AA offered full liveried racing versions as well.  I only had the Supra, but it was really well done.
