which is what you'd expect from a Zeppelin.... a Maybach Zeppelin. This the DS8 series of Maybach was known for providing the highest tech and best luxury materials. It's 8.0 liter OHV V12 aircraft engine was linked to an ingenious vacuum operated semi-automatic transmission where the clutch was only used to engage first gear. The aerodynamic ('Stromliner') coachwork for this limo was by Spohn Coachworks of Ravensburg, Germany. Built in 1931 and debuting in 1932, it seems to be the inspiration for the Pierce Silver Arrow and the Voisin Aerosport. It was definitely the shape of things to come. Unfortunately, only one was made and it appeared to have been destroyed during WWll.

That looks like a pretty cool model. I like it, despite it's somewhat on the homely (ugly) side.

Good one, Rich!  The depression years seem to have inspired designers and companies to at least think about advanced styling and engineering to bring back their customers.  Too bad that, like this one, it never made it to the buyers (if there were any in 1932).
