Yep, I too have used R/C models and/or "toys"  as a base for desired replicas.   Why not, right?    Being lazy, it's nice to find "stuff"  already done!  😉

Between 1950 and 1960, the Indianapolis 500 race was a round of the Formula 1 championship.

So the Indy 500 pace cars of this period should be almost considered as the first F1 safety cars 😉

@pascal-michels Your '49 Merc. & '53 Ford are very nice!   I have several Welly 1/18 Ford convertibles but NOT ONCE did I consider fabricating a Pace Car - what a GREAT idea.    I'm impressed!    Kind of makes me wonder that perhaps Welly missed out.   Maybe THEY should've marketed one!  

Q:  I assume you're making/printing your own decals, true?     🤔

It's a friend of mine that makes the decals when there is no white to print.
