Ford Motorsports Sierra Cosworth... [PIC]

when Stuart Turner took over Ford Motorsport Europe in 1983, he wanted to make Ford competitive in Group A racing again. He gave the project to Walter Hayes who was both the driving force behind the GT40 and the Formula One Cosworth DFV engine. In collaboration with Cosworth and, later, Aston Martin (on the RS500) came the Ford Sierra RS in 1986 with a turbocharged, twin cam 16valve engine based on the Pinto engine. A year later came the RS500 with more power upgrades and the major external change was a lower rear spoiler to go with the whale tail. The extra 100Hp in the RS500 resulted in  slue of victories worldwide. It was at a disadvantage only on loose dirt racing being only RWD.
