from the old days...[PIC] when there really weren't any precision 1/18 scale diecasts.
This was a Bburago Lancia Aurelia kit build. The paint, as was common then, was already blistering off the body so I stripped it and did a rattle can paint job with Almond epoxy designed for refrigerators that matched the original color.
I kept this because I don't think Aa or Kyosho ever did a better one.

It looks great and displays very well. A really nice replica at any price.

It was in the 80s....

One of the big box chains (I forget which) went bankrupt. They had a huge model section that was reduced to a couple of bucks a kit. I bought a bunch of Bburago kits and some other plastic kits of cars and WWll aircraft. I was doing military dioramas back then. I have, in 1/18 a bunch of prewar Bugattis, Alfas, Jags and Mercedes. There was also a slew of really neat 1/24s that you may have seen me post over the years. Some of them I really detailed up as the bodies and proportions were great but the parts count minimal.

It's nice that you stocked up so to speak. I was hitting up all the Kay-Bee toy stores when they closed. There were some incredible bargains. For example, 1/12th Corvettes @ $20. At one time, late 80's -90's KB had diecast and plastic kits too.
