I'm not sure that I can explain this well enough, but I've been looking at a few...

... Quartzo Lotus Formula One models on the 'Bay, and I've noticed quite a few inconsistencies (in the ad pictures, at least) in the looks of design or materials from one model to another, even between models representing the same car.

The best example I can think of is in the wheels and tires; one model is shown with very metallic-looking (almost chrome) wheels and white-letter tires and another is shown with dull grey, plastic-looking wheels and blackwalls. To my eyes, the metallic ones look better and more realistic.

Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions on this?

I would too, but I'm really not sure which one is more accurate. ...

... Even worse, when I order one, I have no way of determining which version will show up at my door! My experience has been that specifying what you want when you place the order doesn't make a difference when it comes to what the retailer has on hand and which version happens to be the next one on the shelf when he goes to pull the order.

And that is the problem these days.................

no actual stores to go to where you could get a peek at the car before you bought it.

Have you found any actual photos of the car? They should at least tell you if it should have markings on the tires. Then I would call the seller and see if they can't 'take a peek' before you buy.

which car are you looking at exactly?

Unfortunately, in many of these cases, the item is listed as "New in Box," or "New, Factory Sealed"

... and the seller doesn't want to open it because he's scared of ruining its value.

Although there are usually pictures on the box, the picture doesn't always accurately depict the model inside.

I'm really not a big fan of "window boxes," but sometimes, they really do come in handy!

No specific model, really, but I'm mainly referring to Quartzo's line of vintage Formula One cars.
