I'm usually not into trucks...

especially the pickup variety, but this old Mercedes transporter is one of the most prized member of my collection.
I loved the '54 Renntransporter for its quirky looks, but their mid-30s LO 2750 transporter is on another plane of modeling perfections. Details up the wahzoo and finger fun to beat the band, this model at once imposing and a joy to behold.
If there were two things to grouse about it'd be:
1.) the cloth fabric top has way too coarse of a weave looking way out of scale. It wasn't a problem because I wanted to display a period M-B race car on it.
2.) the wooden planks were too raw and fuzzy, so I steel wooled them and applied tung oil to give it a more natural look.
I'm retired now so purchases like this will be a very rare occurrence (never say never). So this was the 2018 Christmas present and it's been sitting on the dining room table ever since.

Like you I'm not into trucks but this one is magnificent and worthy of being a center piece in any collection.

The photos barely scratch the surface, John...

Rusty Hurley's revue will give you some idea of what these photos didn't show.

Model trucks are one thing this, however, is something else. A scale work of art!

Funny... your two "gripes" are identical to mine. Glad you shed the "canvas" and oiled the wood (no jokes please). Looks fantastic!
